Modding the TM Warthog with Ribbs Cougar tailpiece adapter

It has been a very long time since the last post. I had too many real world issues that I’ve barely touched the pit. however, sometime in late May I’ve got the Ribbs Cougar tail adapter for my WH stick.

it’s just the standard adapter – that fits both sticks (WH and cougar) and places the SSC in it’s correct forward 13 degrees forward position. naturally it is ment for Force modded sticks (FCC/FSSB) but it also improved the holding angle for the moving stick.

I know this is not perfect – but you can clearly see the angle change on the stick.

the swap is fairly easy.

Ribbs has been making those for years, however, they are made in small batches, and usually not available. you can try and contact him on VP or via his website.

I’ve received mine in a small box filled with packing peanuts.

Here you can see the bronze adapter next to the stick.

I’ve initially replaced and mounted everything, only to discover that it wont fit into the stick socket.

So first thing you should do, is take the stick off the base, and try and seat your adapter in place, I had used my dremel to shave off some excess material left over once the adapter sits firmly into the base, it’s time to continue. You should open the stick (WH uses 3mm Allen key)

once it’s out, put the connector into the new adapter, no screws are needed, as it is a tight fit and the full pressure of the connector will hold it in place.

after spending about two months with the adapter, it defiantly puts less strain on the wrist. and albeit pricey, it’s a highly recommended addition. I just hope that in the future, Ribbs will make some bigger production batches that will drive the cost down.

Update:
A similar product is available in Shapeways, 3D pprinted from stainless steel. Surprisingly it costs less, but I don’t know about quality.
